Windows XP shutdown

Hi,

Having a problem with WinXP Pro. Anytime I want to restart the computer, Windows terminates normally.

Once the blue logoff screen is finished doing whatever it's doing, the screen goes black. The problem is the computer hangs at this point rather than actually restarting. I beileved the cause was Logitch iTouch software I installed (which was apparently not compatible with WinXP as my keyboard stopped working at the logon screen and I couldn't enter my password so I had to uninstall it in safe mode).

But having removed the Logitech iTouch software, I still have this problemw ith reboots. It just hangs in limbo once the screen goes black and I have to hit the reset key to force it to reboot.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

If you can get in at all, try the video drivers first, if that's not the cause use MSCONFIG to turn off all the non-microsoft startup tab options and restart the computer. If it works turn on half the options and reboot. Keep cutting options in half and rebooting until you get check box that is causing problem.
