i am not familiar with the program bit torrent, but looked it up on google enough to see that it is very likely the cause, as you stated, it started with the introduction of this. the program probably just trashed a few of your network/connection settings. again i am not familiar with this product just guessing, if this were on a machine in front of me , i would remove bit torrent, from add remove program, and any folders and reg keys it made that were left by the uninstall. if the problem still occurs, next try system restore. still happens? right click the network connections and repair. still no joy?go to the device manager and remove the network card(s) dial-up modems, anything to do with connecting, reboot, let them reinstall, and recreate my network/internet connections.anything past that requires you call bill gates a few bad names and use the XP cd and repair the os, either from start, run type
sfc /scannow
or reboot with the cd and do a full repair.
