Outlook Express Problem

A recent problem I've encountered while attempting to run Outlook Express in XP. When I run the program, the initial screen pops up but the program freezes from that point. When I go to the system manager, I note that msinm is using 99% of the CPU resources. I've attempted to reinstall Outlook express but that doesn't work. Short of reinstalling the OS, any suggestions (i.e., registry entries, etc) that may help me to address the issue?

Thanks.

try emptying the emails it has. i noticed that if you have a lot of email in the folders, it strains to load up. also make sure that you have all the updates and security patched and what not. if it doesnt work you might want to consider using a diffent email program. regular outlook works wonders. try it out and let me know how it went.

Thanks for the reply. I have been using Netscape's mail program in the interim. I also have all of the patches and updates. Because the program won't open (it just hangs at the desktop) I can't empty the e-mail. Is there a way to do it from within the folder?

actually there is a way to empty it but you have to pay close attention

fallow this path and were it says "your account" you need to distinguish wich account your using. and were it says

{807DDB07-2128-417A-B98B-94E31ACEEE23}

im not sure if its going to be exactly like that in your computer but im pretty sure this will still help

ok here the path

C:\Documents and Settings\your account\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{807DDB07-2128-417A-B98B-94E31ACEEE23}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

this is a folder and youll notice files that end with .dbx.

the dbx is the file that holds your email. make a new folder on your desktop and move "not copy" all the dbx files into it. you want to make sure that the dbx files are not in there original folder.

now try to open outlook and see what happens.

the dbx files hold your emails so you can just put them back if you want or save them.
