Outlook Express With Hotmail

Hiya everyone! Hope someone can help!

I have got Outlook Express and have been trying to access my hotmail emails through it. From what I know all my info has been put in correctly but when I have set up the hotmail account in it as it says it asks if I want to view available folders for it and wont let me! It says it is a "bad request".

Also, when I press send/receive button this message comes up in a failure window...

Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Bad Request', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC31

Anybody have any ideas to help me? Please?? Very annoying as you can imagine!

Thanks. I'm Janine by the way.

if what i have just found out is correct then the answer is NO... i dont go through a proxy server...

i looked in the settings and the box next to where it says "use a proxy server for this connection" is unticked... so i assume this means that the answer is no

hope that has helped.

Janine, There are lots of people out there with the same problem.

See what Microsoft has to say about this issue on this link:

more question; Do you have any kind of acceleration software installed ? (to make your internet go faster)

-cheers

I have found I have the same problem. I have Outlook Express 6 with no acceleration software installed and it will not work. But I have windows 2000 Pro on this computer... but that shouldn't matter.. should it?

Is it possible that using MSN Hotmail through outlook now requires you to purchase the "premium service"? Just a thought judging by the errror I found.
