Remote Desktop through Firewall

Hello. I've been very frustrated of late with the w32.spybot.worm and would like to try putting a software firewall up on my computer. My problem is that I use remote desktop on campus a lot and I can't get it to go through with firewall software. Does anybody do this and which firewall service do you use? Thanks.

First you have to find out exactly what ports are used for Remote desktop (I don't remember the Port number right now),, then try to use the Windows XP built in firewall and in the firewall setting you can specify what ports will be allowed to come in.
