Hello, after looking just for audio I tried looking for windows audio but even that wasnt there.

[quote=brusselsshrek]

Went to "Component Services" as suggested and found "Windows Audio"
Thanks for posting the solution! I would never have found it otherwise.

Is you’re audio plug on the I/O plate or in an Expansion slot – see here – click image to focus
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

do you have the Sound Effect icon in your System Tray, bottom right - look at this - click image to focus
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...%20Effects.JPG

check Device Manager to see if Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture is installed

Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager
System Devices / Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture should be installed

Audio plug is on the I/O plate

That icon is not currently in the system tray
but It had been recently probably around the
time I started having problems

Device Manager: Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio
Is that what your talking about? If not then I don't have it..

Thanks again..Mark

Hi I see that i'm not the only one having this problem. My sound is not working from the very start. It shows No Audio Device, and everything there is grayed out.

In the local services 'Windows Audio' is enabled/started. I've installed all the drivers. It shows that all the drivers are installed in device manager, no yellow mark, It shows the yellow mark for only one device called 'Video Controller (VGA Compatible)', I guess it doesnt have anything to do with the sound.

I don;t have the 'Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture Bus Driver for High Definition Audio' in my System devices. I'm downloading it from here

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOU...on-Audio.shtml

Will it add Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture in the system devices? and I can get back the audio?

Please help me out to get back my sound, I'm frustrated with this.

Thanks for your help.

you need the Microsoft UAA for High definition audio installed for audio to work - this is from HP but supplied by M$ - install then Restart your comp http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...=228&lang=e n

then install audio from Sony
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu...GCRA820G&LOC=3

Set a System Restore Point before installing Each driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions
