so you can the computer to laod then as soon as you type your name to boot to desktop it reboots itself? then in that case you must be able to get into safe mode by hitting F8 as the computer is starting just keep pressing F8 as your computer is loading. It sounds like you have a virus and if you are unable to get to desktop to run a vurus scan then you will ahve to boot up into dos with a bootdisc and run the virus scan from there. or take your hard drive throw it in as slave in another computer and run a virus scan from there aswell as all other scans like trojan spyware and so on. or you could just reinstall ontop of your xp although that is a dirty way and can cause problems but it may do the trick also.
