Add a second hard disk

I just added a second hard disk and used Disk Management
to set it up. Comparing the hard disk 0, it is simple
layout vs partition layout and dynamic type vs basic
type. Is it a correct setup for a second hard disk
without any partition?

Thanks,

Ray

dynamic partition could be mounted as added volume to your existing hard drive,, that means you would be able to see the second hard drive just like a folder instead of separate drive,,,, there is no right or wrong if you knew your intention,, but if you don't like that idea then you can format it as logical drive with basic TYPE to use it as second physical drive. There are disadvantages to mounted volume, an that is if you lose your operating system on the first drive then your second drive would be toasted too,,, STAY with BASIC

cheers

Snowmonkey,

Thanks for the information of volume. What about partition? Should I make it as primary or extended?

Thanks,

Ray

If you have an operating system on the "C" drive then you should make the next one extended / Logical.

cheers
