partitioning

And a message for disk_contented, it sounds like you just do not know how to use partition magic. If you use fdisk sure you can create new partitions within existing ones but you cannot alter the size. With partition magic you CAN do that amongst many other things.

It is always prudent to possess knowledge before providing advice!

Passing comments before you know the facts ehh!
Why didn't you post this in the thread it belongs. No doubt i am a challenge to your superior status as my name appears on a lot of posts... So you thought you would openly attack me.. Bring me down a peg or 2 ehh.
Water off a ducks back M8
Your obviously a Part Magic Expert.
I used partition magic 6 for ages and had no problems with it.
However, when i upgraded to partition 7 for XP, my 2 partitions became 4.. the computer would not boot, restoring a ghost image, rewriting the MBR and all the other tricks made no difference. I had performed this operation countless times before with version 6, not only for myself, but friends also. This operation allways went without a hitch, so don't tell me i don't know what i'm doing.
The fact is.. PM 7 destroyed my setup and for that i will never use it again.
Of course there are alternatives... But you allready knew that being an "expert" (as you must be from looking at your profile)

Kindly refrain from attacking members of this forum because you think you know more than them. We are all here to draw on our own and other users experiences to hopefully help fix problems. If you think someone has given the wrong advice, politely mention the fact. There is no need to try and demean them...Particularly when your out of order.

Make sure your brain is in gear before you open your mouth

is that a suitable reply to your "anecdote"

I am not the one giving out bad advice and claiming to be the "expert". It is quite simple, if you don't have thorough knowledge of something don't go passing out free advice.

From your comments it is quite obvious you do not know how to use the program properly and because you could not do it then nobody else should be able to do it either??? And why is partition magic necessarily the cause of the problem? There are so many things that can go wrong with computers and you just can't pass judgement too quickly.

A man's greatness is not measured by the size of his watsit, nor is the size of a man's knowledge measured by his number of posts!!!

Perhaps you should consider yourself put in your place and leave it at that.

Sometimes, two people - two otherwise normal, intelligent, decent, rational people - just will not like each other. That's life.
