Windows explorer shuts down

Hello everyone
I am having a problem with my Windows explorer... The thing is that everytime I choose to view properties of a music file (.mp3 or .wma) in Windows explorer the computer thinks for some time and then shuts the windows explorer down. Then the desktop is shown and all other running programs resume as they were. This is bugging me specially since the computer is new...

If there is some one out there that can help me, I would be very happy

My specs:
HP compaq nx9000
2.0 GHz pentium 4m
256 MB RAM
40 GB hard disk
Windows XP pro (Service pack 1)

The audio software I have installed:
Media Player 9.0
Winamp 3
Real One

I have also visited Windows update for all updates available from there, I have checked for viruses with the latest updates of anti virus programs, I have tried to uninstall winamp and reinstall it again and I have tried to associate all media files to winamp or to media player. Nothing seems to work...

Another thing that I discovered is that I can play the mp3 files in winamp but not in Media Player, but I still can play movie files (mpg and avi) in the media player. If you have some idea about what is wrong I would be a happy man

I have solved the problem...but I still don't know what the problem was!!

The only thing I did was to re-install the Media player (actually trying to solve another problem but...) and everything got back to normal...

But now I am a happy man!!

sounds like WMP got corrupted it happens, you will find that when ever you get software going wrong that a reinstall of it is always the way to go before trying anything else as that usualy does the trick most times.
