Win XP not detecting mouse or keyboard

Hello everyone,

I seem to have a really annoying problem that I can't seem to fix. Me being the genius who decides to screw around with my keyboard settings, installs a driver for a Microsoft remote internet keyboard, when I really have this old PS/2 IBM Keyboard. I was previously using a standard keyboard driver. Now when I boot up in Windows XP I have no use of my keyboard and Mouse, and have NO idea what I should do. I went into Safe mode but once XP loads up I still have the same problem, no keyboard or mouse use. The keyboard does however work in the bios.

Does anyone have an idea on what I can do?

Please I need help, Im using my work computer to type this because I obviously can not type from home

Damion

If you can't use your keyboard in the system BIOS I will guess that you have got it plugged into the wrong socket.

Boot into safe mode again. This time uninstall the drivers for the keyboard and mouse from within the device manager. Upon rebooting XP should detect your mouse and keyboard properly and reinstall the proper drivers.

Is it the keyboard that makes a clicky sound when you press a key? If so, I have the same problem here. A good USB adapter should do the trick though.
