Modem startup

Hello,
I ve got a problem with my 56K US Robotics modem.
When the modem is switched on at XP startup time, it works perfectly.
But when it is switched off at XP startup, then it does not work afterwards.
I've tried to look at which modem service was or not launched. The modem.sys driver is not launched.
Can someone tell me how to launch this driver automatically at system startup or manually afterward ?

us robotics modems have a startup program in msconfig, under the startup tab, start/run/msconfig/startup.
it has to be enabled for the device to work, if you disable it the modem will not work. if for some reason the start up list does not show the usr modem anymore, go to the device manager and reinstall the driver.

us robotics can't be found in the msconfig startup tab, you're right

But XP won't let me reinstall the driver. Says there is'nt a better driver that the one installed.

It works fine when the modem is switched on at startup time.

How can I force it to be on the startup tab ?
