screensaver help?

hey all , its my first post and its about screen savers.

i recently download a screen saver called marine aquarium. i tried

to set that as my screensaver but Windows XP doesnt save it.

I check to see what screen saver i have and it says that i checked

none, even though i clicked on the screensaver and clicked apply

and the ok button. The screensavers that windows came with

are ok and work fine. Windows Xp will not save the ones that I

downloaded and allow me to use em. What can be the problem?

Did you download the screensaver from a reputable source?

What file format was the download - *.exe or *.scr?

Did you check the download for viruses before you installed?

Have you run a virus check since you installed?

Also run a 'scumware' check using Spybot or something similar.

Try this ...

Uninstall the screensaver - reboot then re-install.

Read the install information also, sometimes you have to go to their sites and get a key number to unlock it. Hard to say with freeware and shareware they may need you to register it or maybe you didn't get a clean download.
