Unhappy Problems with power options

Here in the company we use windows xp professional on our portables. We create default images which are installed on the portables. But in the latest version of the image some problems occured.

As administrator you can change the settings of the power options, but if you log in as user, the settings aren't changed. They should be the same as the Administrator-settings. And it is not possible to change the settings as user because the user has no Administrator rights and gets a Access denied.

After some searching I found that the powercfg.cpl in C:\WINDOWS\system32 contains the power options properties, but giving the user full control to it, doesn't seem to be enough. Does anybody knows how you can give Administrator rights to only these power options properties or how you can sync the Admin-settings with the user-settings? Thx!

Smile solution

Hi,

I found the solution (for the people who are interested ) Go as admin to start/run. Enter regedit. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENTVERSION/CONTROLS FOLDER/ POWERCFG/
Change the permissions for the users of GLOBALPOWERPOLICY and POWERPOLICIES => give them full control.

Have fun with it

K.

I was wondering how to set a global policy where the power management were set to never ... due to the fact whenever someone logons to a system the power management settings are turned back to defaults..we have been manually setting it to the way we want ...due to certain applications we do not want screen saver ...power downs ..so we normally set it to never...I hope you understand what I am looking for.
