Question Office XP

A certain family member used a privacy program (Evidence Eliminator I think) to cover his tracks and accidently deleted the data.bak file for office xp, which is a vital file since without it office can't be accessed. I would re-install but the CD's were lost a while ago (btw my copy is legit) so I am stuck with no way of restoring office. Can anyone please help me by offering a solution or their data.bak file, I need to solve this urgently because my kids have work due tomorrow and I have no other versions of office, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right... I've just simulated your problem by renaming "data.bak".
I copied the file "data.Dat" to its own folder, and renamed that to "data.bak".
Fired up word and it loaded ok.
Sorry i can't suggest anything better, but it may help you through your crisis.
