Win XP Pro and Win 98 Computers on Network
I have a problem with my Home-Office network since I have added 2 new computers running Window XP Pro.
The network was running using Windows 98 in a peer to peer connexion using the Workgroup function including an ADSL Internet Router Olitec SX 200
Since I have added a Laptop computer with XP Pro and 98 Desktop with XP Pro computer, I cannot see these new machines on the network
Still I see the 2 computers with Win 98 .
The Internet connexion still work OK on all Win 98 stations.
I have use automatic assignment of IP address and it is the same than if I fix the IP in the range of 192.168.0.xxx
I have removed all FireWall protections, it is still the same.
The network cards on the new systems appears to work, as far as we can tell.
If I go to Command and type Net View, I can see all the computers connected, including the Desktop-PTW-FR and Laptop-PTW-FR which are my computer with XP Pro.
I have fixed the IP of the Desktop at 192.168.0.243 (or other in the same range) and if I Ping it from Win 98 , I do not get any reply.
If I ping the DeskTop-PTW-Fr computer IP address from this computer, I get a reply, showing I believe that the network card are OK .
Any idea coming from the Expert ?
Thanks and Best Regards.
