Invalid Time stamp problem

hey smart people, I have this prob. When I start my comp, its gets to the windows XP loading screen and stops. the screen keeps on loading but nothing seems to be happening. Luckily I got it restarted after various tries. It scanned the system and said...Invalid time stamp error for a lot of files and when my desktop page came, my time and date is wrong. What can be the problem......HDD ??? or is it the battery inside or is it windows XP ???? and my CPU gets stuck quite often. The spikes that the other brothers here are talking abt. HELP !!!
