Resetting the program that a file opens with

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you could answer this tricky question: Is there any way to reset the a file so that it no longer has a particular program associated with it? For instance, I have several *.met files that I wanted to edit with Notepad, but now all my *.met files open with Notepad and I have another program that needs to open them but cannot. Is there any way to reset this so that they have no program association? Basically I want to be able to see the file like this:

Thanks for reading, I hope someone out there has a reply for me . . .

Why don't you just right click on the file / go to "Open With" and then choose a program and leave the file association as is ?

cheers

Because the whole idea is that I don't want to have any program associated with that file type.

Open Windows Explorer, and go to Tools--->Folder Options--->File Types, then find the file extension in question in the list, and Delete its association.

That should do it.

Assuming its in the list of course
