Need help please. <-- noob

I reformatted my hard drive using windows 2000, installed that, then upgraded to windows XP pro, and now every time I load something on my computer, it hesitates every 2 seconds, like slows down completely for a second, then 2 seconds later it does it again, and again, and again... I don't know what it is or how to fix it. I tried reinstalling windows XP but that did not work. Any help???

my suggestion is this, get the diagnostic tools for your hard drive, can download them from the mfg. web site if you dont have them, do a low level format, then use the windows install to create the partitions and format, i know why you install with 2k, then upgrade to xp, if you email me at known_criminal@msn.com i will send you a program that will make your copy of xp bootable with the instructions on how to do it(very easy) then use your xp cd to do a clean install. all you will need is a burner and a blank cdr.
add subject : boot xp cd
known_criminal, the underscore has to be there.
