When I search online for drivers windows is not able to locate one. I have attempted to download new driver for motherboard and on board audio from intel. No go, when it attempts to load the audio portion it warns that it cannot locate the driver either. Realtek tries to install correct driver and gives the big blue screen with a stop error.

Thanks for the help. Tried that and in the middle of install I get the blue screen with a stop message telling me computer has shut down to prevent major damage. When I try to reboot, same thing. If I reboot in safe mode and uninstall the realtek program all is well.

Go here to Intel, this board uses the ADI 1981A codec http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21

this is the same as your board.

Don't forget the Restore Point

Hope this helps

you had ur system with drivers working before upgradation.Right? Now,don't directly install the new driver for pro Or uninstal the old ones.I did so and found the same problem, blue screen with stop msg.In the same mode update the driver(properties) by pointing the downloaded new one. This helped me to over come.If you hadn;t doen it.Just try.

This is an older driver for the HP 752n from driverguide, http://members.driverguide.com/drive...riverid=444224

Can you check Control Panel / Add Remove programes / is Realtek shown as being installed anywhere.

Cheers

Thanks for the help. My audio was functional before the upgrade. Relatek is not appearing as a program in Add/Remove programs and it is not installed in the programs file under explore my computer. This older version downloads and when it gets through about 80% of the installation it says it encountered a problem and needs to shut down with a prompt to send MS an error report and then the installation wizard wants to reboot the computer. I now cannot uninstall realtek from the remove programs screen as it says the file is not valid. Any suggestions from here? I tried doing a fresh xp pro install yesterday with the same results.

Try to manually install the driver ( substitute Realtek for SoundMax)

Go to Device Manager – right click SoundMax – select Update – select No,not this time – Next> - select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) – Next> - Don’t search, I will choose the driver to install – Next> - the driver you downloaded should be shown, select it then click – Next>

Hope this helps
