Question Making Internet Explorer link emails to outlook express

Hi.

I run Internet Explorer 6.0 with XP Home and Outlook Express 6.0.

If I click on someone's email address from within IE, I would expect to be automatically given an Outlook Express new mail message window with the address filled in for me.

Instead of this, what actually happens is the Internet Explorer opens up 61 copies of the same web page and shoves them all down into the bottom "program bar". I then have to right click and "close group" then re-start Internet Explorer. (Or spend the rest of my session with 61 identical pages open). It's always 61.

This only occurs when I click on email addresses. I have no other problems I know about with my internet Explorer.

Nowadays I cut-paste email addresses into a new Outlook Express message to stop this happening. No real problem, but just irritating, and I'd like it to go away.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Justin, UK

That is really weird problem, I have no idea how to fix it, but here are couple of suggestion, reinstall your Internet explorer and second report this problem to Microsoft,, I think they would be interested in this one too.

Hi Admiral Michael

Thanks for the reply.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head. Thing is, under the control panel/internet options/programs, there is a blank space with nothing visible on the pull-down tab to select the email program. (ie no programs I can select)

So this is the problem, but how to proceed from there...

Any more clues?

Rgds,

Justin
