Retreive password from XP

Hi all,

I had not used a password on my xp box for over a year. I installer pc anywhere, and now the password prompt comes up during bootup. I dont remember the password for any of the user (me) or admin.

How can I login and/or default the password?

The only software I have seen fo far that can get around the Lost XP password is LockSmith module in Winternal Admin software.

Better YET !

Found an excellent tool to do this off-line. I thought of posting a link here so here it is: NT Password Recovery

I tried this on 98, 2000 and XP and works like a CHARM !

Easy to do, simply download the .iso image and burn to a cd. Then, reboot pc with cd in it, this will load vmlinux into a ramdrive and will start a script. Walk through the script (dummy proof!)

The only thing, is when asking for a password, simply enter a *
This will blank the password out and allow you to login without a password. You can then change it once logged into windows.

THIS IS AN EXCELENT PIECE OF SOFTWARE TO HAVE IN YOUR TOOLBOX !
