older computer have two com ports but some the newer designed have only one com port.... usually Com port (s) are enabled and disabled through the BIOS.... so if you don't have a Com port present in your computer the go to BIOS and enabled it and on the boot up you r computer will detect it.
Additional Com port could be achieved by adding expansion card and you could get expansion card with extra two Com ports.
