no network connections listed

I would like to disable the Win Xp Firewall but when I open "Control Panel" >> "Network Connections" there are no network connections listed. When I rightClick in the empty pane and click "refresh" a message pops up: (i try to translate, i have a dutch Windows XP) "The list of network adapters on your computer can not be viewed in the folder network connections. Check if the networkconnections service is plugged in (?) and active." I have no problem using internet and also I use this pc with another harddisk and there is no problem with that one.

thanx

Go to Control Panel/Administration Tools/Services.

Below is the list of what I disabled on my system. Before disabling anything you should read the description to make sure it's not something you want, such as the firewall, which I disabled because I use ZoneAlarm instead. Simply unchecking the firewall checkbox only stops the service rather than disabling it.

internet connection firewall (icf) / internet connection sharing (ics) (note: get a better firewall like zone alarm)

Did you reboot , after setting it to Disabled ?

Double check that it is still disabled .

If it is , it is .
