When I choose English (UK) I get US English

Hello.

I don't know how to get Microsoft Windows XP Home to use British English.
That is, I would like the OS to display menus and options with words such as 'Favourites', 'Colours', etc, not 'Favorites', 'Colors', etc.

** If you're going to reply, please - please! - read the following: **

WHAT I ALREADY DID:

1,
On several different computers, all with UK versions of Windows, I went into Control Panel/Regional & Language Options and selected English (UK) but US English stayed, even after I restarted the computer.
What's rather irritating is that Windows now states it's in English (UK) even though the language hasn't changed.

2,
I asked Microsoft but they just said to do what I had already done.

3,
I went onto Microsoft's own help forum but it only spawned a slanging match between champions of British and US English.

IF YOU DON'T MIND:

_Do_NOT_ reply on this forum *unless* you have an answer.

That is because it makes the topic heading appear to have answers here and then other people don't look at it. Please post if you have a solution.

Sorry to be a bit tetchy about that, Snowmonkey and anyone else but not getting a solution is frustrating...

...but don't say "you can't" - _yes_you_can_. I know it's possible because I've seen it. Unfortunately, the one person who has it bought the computer like that and doesn't know how it got that way.

Thank you!

The only thing that I can tell you to try is to blow the box away with a fresh install of XP, then during the setup, make sure you select the language that you want. I have seen this problem with some versions of ME, but not with XP.
