Problem with sound card and xp

It seems like an easy problem to fix here it goes.

I have a "Sound Blaster Audigy" mp3 sound card and there is this thing that pop's up at start up called a "splash screen" just a log and sound no big thing and now I won't come up at start up any more.

I called tech support and they went thru stuff, but in the end they said most likely the registry is corrupted and they said they can't help me to go to regedit to fix this problem.

Man I don't want to reformat my computer because of a start up thing. I have uninstalled the program and changed the directory name to see if I can't fix it that way. Also did a clean sweep of the program. Nothing.

If someone can think of something maybe I haven't tried. Thanks

need more info, make and model or Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for help with my audio device. The motherboard is ECS P4M900T-M V1.0 running Win XP. It got VIA HD Audio device. I tried to install driver from CD came with the motherboard and also downloaded from ECS website, but when it got to installing driver, it gave an error msg: "We can't find audio device." The only device I got added is the USB wireless card (D-Link) so I can connect to the internet. No other PCI cards/devices were added.

ECS provided very poor support.

Please help.

Thanks.

This board can have Via HD or Realtek HD, have you tried the Realtek driver it's here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...Audio%20Codecs

Download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click downloaded file on desktop to install.

to check what is on the motherboard Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

I Appreciate the reply.

I did that but got an error in when the .exe was trying to install. What's weird is that when I go to Control Panel/Sound and Audio Devices/Hardware tab and click properties and expand the Audio item Windows gives me a conflict (The computer is at my father-in-laws and not here now so I cannot elaborate) but when I click on 'properties' for the Audio option, it states that under status that the driver is installed but not enabled...

I've read elsewhere about KB888111 but don't know whether it shouldn't be installed or SHOULD be installed

The KB888111 is incorporated in the Realtek download, have you checked the BIOS to see if the audio is Enabled
