2 quick problems?

1) for some reason loading after logining in has slowed down. i think some program is checking for something but im not sure. ive made a new account and looked @ the startup list (using regCleaner) and mine is the same thing. normally when logging in my AV immidiately checks the A drive but now there is a significant pause before this happens and i can't do anything except Alt+ctrl+del durring this time and when that has loaded nothing is using up a significant amount is CPU and oddly all of the names under user name are blank except 1 and they appear right after the AV checks the floppy. i think there is something going on between the time when i login and the AV but i don't know what. System restore did not fix this problem.
2) in internet explorer i have somehow been denied the right to change the internet options under tools.it says "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact system administrator" but im am the administrator

Issue #2:

Do you have Spybot? Spybot has a feature called "Immunize". Near the bottom of the "Immunize" window is a box with 3 "Protections", "Lock Hosts file.....", "Lock IE Start Page Setting Against User Changes (Current User)", "Lock IE Control Panel Against Opening From Within IE (Current User)".

If there is a check in one of these last 2 boxes, you'll get the symptoms that you describe.

thankx... i wasn't sure what that option did so i checked it but forgot about it

It can be a useful feature if there are other people using your computer and you don't want them to change your settings.
