Question Clean Install of W98se

Hello everyone! I'm glad I found your Forum, it looks kinda over my head but thats how I'll learn
My question is this, is there any way I can do a "Clean Install" on my HP computer? See the PC comes with the W98se OS on a System Recovery CD. Unlike with my IBM Aptiva, that was a Upgrade from W95 to W98se with a store bought W98se Upgrade CD. I hate all the CRAP thats on this H-Packard computer. I just received the HP from my uncle so we could have 2 PC's for homework for the kids & Dad can do his Fantasy Football HaHa. Anyway, I just wish I could do a Clean Install of this PC because with all the RAM it should run quicker & stabler like my other PC that has the Clean Install of W98se on it. I Will appreacite any help.
Thanks,,Paul

Yep. Boot from the cd (or floppy if needed) and let the install proceed.
The only prob you might have is drivers, if windows doesn't have them, its no problem to get to HP website.

Thank You Disk....... Which CD or floppy do I boot from? I know that I Format "C" to clean everything out but Then which CD do I have loaded , the System Recovery or the W98se Upgrade CD.??
I'm, sorry I have so many questions but I'm not that clear on doing this to the HP because this wasn't an Upgrade. If at all possible could you send instructions I could Print? I do apolagize for my ineptness! Again Thanks Disk_Contended (Great Handle)

Hmmm... Apparently, you can clean install from upgrade cd's ( i never tried it, used full install disk).
Boot from the upgrade cd after formatting, the install should start, and you know the rest as you've allready done it. You may have to change the boot order in the bios to achieve this.
My "98" cd wouldn't autoboot so i had to boot from floppy and start the install there (D:\setup in case your not sure).

Any thread in the forum can be printed by going to the bottom of the page and click "show printable version".

Let me know how you get on.
