wont read correct processor

I know I have read how to make puter read correct processor. My wifes puter under system properties says the processor is a 1.7gig. Hers is a xp3000+ I know I have read how to fix it. Please anyone remember where the fix is.

Thanks for the reply. I had to get into her bios & change her FSB. That fixed it.
