auto copying and file backup problems

I am using Windows XP and MS Office. When I try to delete files, I encounter problems: I have no problem moving a file from My Documents to the Recycle Bin. However, when I delete the file, I find that the file has been restored in My Documents, and ALSO, another copy has been made ... so, when I delete a file, I end up with that file and a copy ... and if I delete the file and the copy, i end up with the file, a copy, another copy of the file, and a copy of the copy ...

Has anyone run across this problem?

Thank you for any help you might provide.

deleting files

I did run an on-line virus scan and no virus was reported. My ISP has an email scan system, too.

This does not seem to happen with ALL files.

Do you have any programs like Norton Unerase installed?

What types of files are these?
