Computer freezing problems

hi, any help would be appreciated

my specs

win 2000
52x32x52 cd-rw
Ecs L4VXA2 mb with built in sound and lan
64mb geforce 2 mx400
wd 60gb ntfs hd
2x 512 mb pc2700 ram
celeron 2.4ghz
300 w power supply

well my problem is that my comp has been freezing randomly. i have formatted the computer 3 times. i used to have win xp home, it came with sp1 so i thought that was my problem, but i installed win2000 and it still freezes. it freezes when i play games or when i just turn it on or when its sitting idle sometimes. it has only frozen when i'm in windows, never before. I have updated the video card drivers to 53.03(the latest)and i have updated my mb drivers. I also taught it was a heat problem, but the bios says it is at 33c all the time. could it be wrong?

its driving me crazy

Oh boy. Where do we start. Have you tried running with the side off for extra cooling? 33c is not hot. Have you cleaned up inside lately?
Try running it barebones. Disable onboard sound and lan one at a time. Try taking one stick of ram out at a time or substituting ram. Could be a failing power supply. Could be a bad card. It's going to be a process of trial and error. Start off doing stuff that dosnt cost.
Worst case scenerio is a bad motherboard. Ecs is not high quality stuff.
I'm leaning towards power supply.
Maybe someone else can pinpoint the trouble for you.

I have the same problem on my win xp too! I have managed to isolate that the problem is due to my lan. When i disconnect my lan cable from my other computer it runs fine, but as soon as i plug it in it freezes and the only thing i can do is push the reset button. I did start off with the same line of thinking that it might be my processor etc, but this proved it otherwise. Yet to find a fix for this! If anyone knows a fix let me know!
