Angry Harddrive Copy Problem

Hi, I just used drive image 7 from powerquest (Norton) to copy my main system part. to a new harddrive. It all copied fine but i couldn't boot it until after some hellish usage of system recovery off the windows xp cd. Now heres the problem. Let me first state the system as it was before i did anything. 1 40gig maxtor drive with the first partition C: 30 gigs(data) and second D: 10 gigs([system] - the windows install i copied to the new drive). The new drive is a 40gig Western Digital. I'm using both drives at the same time with the new WDigital drive and freshly copied os as the boot. Now heres my problem. The old root partition was always D: now that i boot from the WDigital it is still recognized by windows as d: meaning all program files still load off of it. Can anyone tell me how to make the programs all load from my new boot partition now recognized as the E: drive?
Thanks

i dont think it works

i dont think DI 7.X works as fars as making an exact copy of a drive. you must have a same size or larger drive+"free space".
there's a prompt that has a make bootable/OS box that may help.(didnt help me)
DI 4X worked great and would resize the partitions...the (improved...$70) 7X wont....probably because symantec worked on it.....
i went ahead and bought 7.01 because 4.x doesnt work w/Xp ...then i found out it wouldnt resize partitions...so i bought another hard drive...(exactly like the original)....it didnt make an exact copy of the original (never will get to the desktop).
...could be something i'm doing wrong...but the copy utility only has like 3 prompts....copy from, copy to and then a list of things to check (or not)...i've tried most of the combinations of that one (most are just error correction)...never worked....it still burns me up that they charge almost as much as my operating system for this bullsh!t that doesnt do what it says it will..... ....sn

Angry drive image 7

Well I can see I am not the only one who feels ripped off by Drive image 7! The Drive copy feature has never worked for me, I have tried it over and over folowing the instructions to the letter! Finally I saw it! In the set up it says DI7 will not work with some hard drives! And, you must check the website to see if your harddrive is on their compatability list! Alas my 90 gig hitatchi deskstar wasnt on the list! You would think they would at least put that warning on the cover of the box before you waste your money, but I guess thats too much to ask!!!? Check the website to see if your hard drive is compatable...this may be your problem as well.

Stick to the tried, tested and best, IMO. Norton Ghost 2003.

What you want to do is install the new drive as a slave. If your new hard drive came with software use it to set up your new drive as a new boot hard drive. If you don't have a diskette or cd, go to the western digital site and load the software(its free). You must use only western digiital software for WD drives. This will take hours to complete, so just be relaxed. When it finishes, you will have 2 exact copies. It will not erase anything. When you boot up with the diskette, its really a simple path. Good Luck
