Lag on games after wireless router

I used to have a wired d-link router, but once i switched to a hybrid one (still wired) DI-604 my gaming and surfing has gone slow, very slow.. or my games just get very choppy and cannot catch up which has never happened. Solution?

This is just a suggestion:

Do you know if your router has the latest firmware ? Please remember that there are two different version of DI-604 in the market.
