XP freezing

Have a Sony Vaio Rx660 with XP that just recently starting freezing at random times (startup, on the web, using outlook, etc). Turned off most of the programs trying to run at startup, ran spyware and virus - nothing.

Recently installed hot sync software for my Ipaq Pocket PC - anyone familiar with a conflict issue?

Haven't added any new memory or any cards

Any suggestions on how to stop the freezing would be appreciated
