system idle process and svchost

my problem is this: svchost.exe (running as a local service) eats up all of my cpu cycles. the only way to stop this is to naturally end it. this is the same with my system idle process. keeps eating cpu cycles. i know what svchost does, but im not too sure about the true purpose of system idle process (i have ideas but not sure). however im not sure as to how to control the situation without ending the process. same for system idle process. if someone could give me some idea has how to stop these two processes from doing the above that would be great.

cheers,

figured it out :D

just wanted to let everyone know that i figured out the problem. i looked around in the microsoft knowledge base and found that RSA something or another software usually causes the problem. for some reason made me think of counter-strike 1.6. if you all know anything about cs 1.6 you know about the install of steam. steam turned out to be the problem. after uninstalling steam software my computer is back to its usual loving self. thanx if anyone was thinking of attempting this problem

For future reference, System Idle doesn't "eat CPU cycles". If your Task Manager shows System Idle at 97%, that means that you're only using 3% and 97% is available for use.
