Question Huge Hidden Files

I have Windows XP home edition installed on the first partiton of a four partitioned disk drive.
Lastly, i have downloaded huge files)about 600.000 kB in size) from the internet and i have wrote them into cds using ahead nero (about 15 files like that).

the problem is that after writing them and deleting the downloaded files. i remarked that there are two HUGe hidden files in C:/, the files are hyberfil.sys and pagefile.sys
the first is 530Mb in size and the second is over 750 MB in size!!!!!!!!!!!.
i can't delete them, whenever i want to it says that the files are used by another program or person.

i don't know if they really caused by the huge files i have downladed, the files are iso images for Linux. i have deleted he files and deleted all tempororaly internet files. i am also setting windows restore off.

any help on what these files are doing there and how can delete them if they are useless????????????

please!
thank you

Hiberfil.sys is a file used when you hibernate the computer, it is equal to the installed amount of ram. If you don't use hibernation, disable it in power settings, you regain the space.

Pagefile.sys is the virtual memory file, you can make it any size you want but it should be at least 1.5 times the installed mem. It will shrink and grow dependent on installed mem and current mem load.

Just more about Pagefile.sys

I just wanted to say that the value of Pagefile.sys can be changed under the system properties > Advanced > Performance :Setting > Advanced > Virtual Memory..

You can assign a biger value to increase performance of some programs that needs more virtual memory

Peace!
