xp security disk browse question.

Hi Guys, i am new to this forum so am not quite sure if i am asking this in the right place, but couldn't see another place for it. We have a public access cyberlounge and want to give access to some third party programs eg ftp progs, fireworks etc. However, even though the C: drive and other sensitive drives are hidden via group policy, users can still access the c drive from the third party program when it opens or when they save a doucment, in word for example. I have tried to get my head around the home folder concept and how to set them in group policy but am having no luck. Can anyone give me a solution for having only one folder, eg "my documents" to be accessable to users of any program. cheers from Tassie, jonathon.

The settings you are looking for are, from what you are describing, not exactly possiable; i think.

You may be able to use the 'Run as' command for the FTP application, and make a Limited User account in XP. And then set the Limited user account with a password on the application, as the only User account that can use the application.

not sure

Thanks Grendel, sorry i took so long to get back to the forum.
I think i understand what you are saying. How do you set a password on the application though. and i think no matter who runs the aplication they will still be able to disk browse with the ftp program or whatever program it is, which is really what i am trying to stop. thanks for your reply. i will keep on looking. I read a bit about home directories on the microsoft site, but couldn't really make head nor tail of it, as usual.

I'm not sure if this program would do what you want or not. Take a look and see if this is something you'd be interested in.
