formatting an extended drive

I recently installed win xp on my computer, before I installed I partitiioned my hard drive, 50% primary, 50% extended. I then formatted the primary, and did nothing with the extended thinking I would format it later. Well, I cannot locate the extended drive to format it. Any info on how I can do this, or did I mess up?

I do not think windows will recogize the unformatted partition. You can format it with Partition Magic or something similiar.

kvb616, make sure you have a drive letter assigned to the drive first,,, extended partition does not fetch a drive letter automatically if is not formatted initially during the install.

cheers

You need to right click on my computer->manage->disk management.

In there you will see all of your drives (wether they have letters or not). You should see your unformatted, extended partition there. You should be able to right-click on the extended partition and format it to your liking.
