task manager problem

I am unable to access my task manager. Both ctrl alt delete and right clicking the tool bar do not work. The only way to access it through searching for the file name and clicking on it that way. I have done a virus scan in safe mode and that has shown nothing either. Someone please help me!!

I have a dell dimension 4300 and I use aol or internet explorer as my browser.

P.S. My virus scan is also unable to have a scheduled run. I have to manually start it or it won't work. (Could this be connected to my problem as well?)

I am sorry to say but that didn't help. Could there be a virus out there that is causing these problems?
