slow hadr drive speed

My hard drive speed has slowed. Had a problem with 2nd HD, changed itself to PIO mode. Got it back to UDMA mode 5 by re-installing driver for primary IDE. How can I re-install IDE controller drivers to see if this fixes my slow problem.
