Unhappy Taskbar inactive for some time after logon

Hi!

My problem is, that after logon, the taskbar seems inactive, I can't press the start button and the systray items. Sometimes the logon sound isn't playing too, when it eventually does, the taskbar comes around too.

The event manager is showing me nothing, I have tried to search the web and forums and MS Knowledge bases, but no luck. Some of the cases are similar but not the same A moment after logon the taskbar also flashes yellowish white and then turns to blue...is that related?!

Can it be some program I have installed that interferes with taskbar starting up? Beats me...

Has anyone an idea how to fix it, the XP repair (reinstall) is a way, but is there another?

PS: When logging in under another account the problem doesn't appear!

Some specs:

XP Pro SP 1
Athlon XP2200+
256 RAM
Via KT400-8235
Nvidia 64 GF4 MX440
LG - CD/RW

we all want to solve problems that we have,, but when you know the solution then why would you want to chase a ghost ?!? just create another account with you own credential and transfer the desktop items over and get it over with

cheers

Yes, but that would be like sticking head into sand. I would like to get rid of this annoyance, who says this event isn't gonna appear again?! I created a new account already some time ago, for a different reason and it wasnt smooth at all, so I would not want to do this.

Any other ideas??

Thumbs up

So I finally solved the problem...the troublemaker was Norton Antivirus 2003 program, it got itself some error thingi and was also fooling around with XP starting up and logging on. Uninstalled it and it's fine now!
