Logging Off.. Programs..

My programs turn off when i log off.. i want to be able to leave my aim and other programs on while i log off.. i see my friends are able to..

- i am running windows xp pro.

heya,

have you got fast switching turned on?

if not...
1 / Start > Control Panel > User Accounts
2/ select 'change the way users log on/off'
3/ check the box labelled
Use Fast User Switching

well this is mos def the option i need but everytime i click it.. and i come back to the screen its unclicked.. so i have no idea.. i press apply options but when i come back to the same screen , its unchecked..
