DVD Access Problem
Hi,
My machine: Dell Dimension 4300 (BIOS Version A02)
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1500MHz
Memory: 512Mb
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (SP1)
I have my HDD attached to motherboard thru a PCI card. Currently I have my IDE DVD-ROM 16X drive (MAD DOG MD-ED16E) attached to Primary IDE and my newly bought DVDRW IDE1004 (Micro Advantage 4DVDRW-B13) attached to Secondary IDE.
Previously, I had a CD-RW in place of my new DVD+/-RW drive. When I first time replaced my CD-RW with the new DVD+/-R/RW drive, I didn't have Service Pack 1 installed for Windows XP Pro. At that point of time, both my DVD-ROM and DVDRW were working absolutely fine.
Then I did a fresh installation of Windows XP Pro with SP1. Windows XP could recognize all my peripherals and Device Manager does recognize all of them without any resource conflict. For both Primary/Secondary IDE channel current transfer mode is Ultra DMA Mode 2.
With all these, if I restart my machine, and then insert media in any of these two drives, OS doesn't recognize it. It behaves as if no disc is inserted.
However, writing tools like Roxio or Nero still could detect the DVD+/-/R/RW media and can work with it. Audio CD also can be detected by Windows Media Player.
Most strange thing is, if I restart my machine with media in drive, thru out session it works alright.
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Anup
