Trouble installing Windows XP pro

We are trying to install Windows XP pro from CD. This is a build your own pc system with a 160 GB hard drive, 512MB RAM, Epox 8RDA3+ motherboard, AMD 2800 CPU, floppy drive, CD/RW drive. The system boots from the oem Windows Pro CD and we can get it to install the files, but the system will not boot from the hard drive.
The first time we tried to install, we partitioned the drive from setup before installing, but we learned after the fact that this can cause problems. We removed the partitions and now have only one partition, but cannot get the hard drive to boot.

Any suggestions? We thought the system was not paritioned properly at first, and got Partition magic to make sure there was just one partition. It still does not boot up. Help!

This may be a dumb question since it seem like you know what you are doing... is the hard drive listed in your boot sequence ? some mother broad allow you to remove the hard drive from boot sequence all together.....

You can use win98 (dos) boot disk to set your hard drive into "active" mode, It could be the solution to your problem.
Don't know how, just type in "fdisk" in DOS mode
After you enter the option list, you will see a choice which will enable you to set the partition of the hard drive into active mode.
If you have install the XP properly well, you will be able to get into the OS. Good luck.
