Windows picture and fax veiwer

After download of photos to my photos file, all photos
are shown as jpeg file icons rather than the photos. when
I open them, the Windows picture and fax veiwer
shows "no preview available" on view screen so in order
to see photos I must use my ACD jpeg image veiwer to open
each photo individually for viewing. As you can see this
is a long and tedious process. How can I convert jpegs so
they can be viewed with the Windows picture and fax
veiwer. Even using my my ACD jpeg image veiwer I cannot
select veiw all. There must be an image converter or some
way to veiw these images in the Windows picture and fax
veiwer. HELP

Try Irfanview: http://www.irfanview.com/english.htm
Has thumbnails, batch conversion, slideshow generator, supports anim gifs, video, sound and umpteen other file formats. It's also free.

Forget Windows picture and fax viewer, if your into photos, you need something better.

Irfanview

I have Irfanview. This may work, I hate Windows picture and fax viewer, but how do I change my default image download manager? Windows seems to have control. It has even taken over from my digital camera download software.

Menu: options/set file associations.
For your camera etc, is there not an option of which program to send it to? there usually is for cameras, scanners etc.

Well your probably right, but I found a way to set up control of all device defaults. Just used MS powertool Tweak UI and climbed up the tree.
Tweak UI: My computer: Autoplay: Handlers: just choose your device and and browse for program to default to or manage download and choose create.

I still wonder why Microsoft doesn't include this tool in XP O/S and makes you download it.

Thanks for input, I'm sure you'll be seeing my posts in the future, this winter, if my computer were a house, I'd be saying I'm doing a complete remodel. (new partions, O/S, dual booting with Linux and some stuff I,ve only read about)
