Internet connection problems with Vaio S-Series

I can connect via the wireless signal but cannot navegate. If I use the internet cable, then everything works ok. I have pinged the address and it shows that the wireless connection is there and ok but still can't navegate. Any suggestions out there? I've done all of the troubleshooting suggested by the Vaio Windows XP system but no luck.

Is the Wifi system you can connect to free or subscription only? Or the same provider as your landline ISP (in which case call them and explain).

I can get onto my ISP without my password etc, but any other site is inaccessible until I enter my subscriber details.

Even if it's free, you might still need a login name and password to browse the net.

It's a free service in a cafe. This happened in another place and I could navegate fine with a cable to the same modem as the wireless. It's definitely not the same service as my ISP. Where can I change the settings to get access via wireless?
