deleting User Accounts

i upgraded from xp home to xp Pro. i noticed that my old use account from xp home is still active and has files in it. THis is not shown in the control panel section. But I see the old account in this folder C:\Documents and Settings .

I am denied access to it to delete the old account. So, a huge chunk of my hard drive is being taken (30 gigs) up by files in this old account. Again, i only want to delete this user account and its files.

Any solutions?

do a complete format and reinstall
for a totally clean start

so, renaming the permissions by dragging to shared folder also did not work for me.

If i reformat by reinstalling Windows XP what are the options i chose to make sure the entire Hard drive is wiped clean?

When reinstalling
do a clean\fresh install
a window will come up where it asks you to format or not - yes (ntfs)
i have a ripped xp disk and for some reason i cant get to that window via the cd so i need to use 6 xp boot disks which you can dwnld from microsoft.
