Can I ....

My disks that came with the computer are bad, and the manufacture wants to charge me for new ones.

I would like know if I can use some else restore disks. She has the same computer as I do.

If so is there anything I need to know before I try to install them.

My husband was using the computer yesterday and really messed things up. He for some unknow reason put in the restore disk. But when I went to to see what was wrong and could'nt figure it out I called support and was told that the disks are bad.

Basically, if you are sure that someone's computer is the same with yours, you can use his/her computer restore disks to restore your computer. But make sure that the hardwares inside the computers are the same. The restore CDs should not be bad as responded. It could have been the wrong procedures that your husband did. Try to restore your computer with the CDs again before you go to the manufacturer. If it doesn't work, go borrow your friend's Restore CDs and do it again. With all the efforts above, you may have to ask for help from the manufacturer if it doesn't help. Good luck.
