Outlook Express address book and mail files

Please help.
I have recently upgraded to XP from '98.
Before doing so I backed up ALL files onto CD.

I now find I cannot restore my outlook express address book, or my old mail files.

Does anyone know which files I need to copy, and where to ?
On my backed up files there are a load of *.dbx; *.idx; and *.mbx files. Are these any good with O-L/Express 6 ?

Previously : O-L/express 5
Now : O-L/express 6
- I also have outlook 2002 - but this doesn't seem to help.

Thanks for reading
Will.

inbigtrouble, file you are looking for is *.dbx to import to your new outlook ,, there is a very important note that you have to remember and that is file attribute,, after you copy the *.mbx file to the hard drive make sure you right click on the file and remove the read only attribute off other wise you won't be able to use it.

cheers

Still confused

Thanks for your help.

I had tried this but couldn't find any *.dbx files on O-L/Express 6.
I have just looked again, but searched in hidden files : there they are - thanks Mr Gates for your wisdom in knowing I wouldn't want to see these anymore.

I will try copying the files across - will post the result (but may take some time).

Yours (much more confidently)
Will.
