Unhappy Help Ive Lost Everything!! Windows Xp Home Edition

Hey people, when i started my windows xp home edition today it said "NTLDR" error message! I then re-installed windows xp home edition now all my word documents and music files have been deleted! Is there any way at all I can retrieve these files, through step by step guidence or through a specialist! Can anyone recommend what i should do? I really need them files back as its to do with my work and I havent got the means to obtain them again in order to type it up! Any suggestions are welcomed!

There is a good chance your files are gone forever, usually a disk like that is called a Restore Disk, or something of the such, they typically reformat the hard drive and reinstall the operating system... If this is your case sorry.

You can manually check for the files... go to Start, Run
Type %allusersprofile%. Go up 1 folder. See if you see your old usernames, if not, I'm sorry but your files are gone.

My brother has used a program called 'Ontrack easy recovery professional' (Trial version)

He has managed to recover approx 80 percent of his data with this program.

Download here: http://www.ontrack.com/easyrecovery/

Good Luck
